U read these .. ?

Sebelum rakan2 skalian memulakan pembacaan, lihatlah d atas sana!

Selain novel2 english n malay, ade jugak buku2 bergambar fav Nana. Act, buku2 bergambar tu adalah buku2 rujukan untuk KAED students (p/s : KAED = Kuliyyah of Architecture and Enviromental Design). Rekaan2 rumah, halaman, langsir, bilik tidur, sungguh cantik! Nana boleh habiskan berjam2 duduk atas lantai “Light Reading” (seb baik ade carpet) tengok “buku2 bergambar” tue!

Al-kisahnya, Nana terjumpa satu row buku2 yg d tulis Enid Blyton!! Nana pon terus mencapai sbijik buku Enid Blyton yg bertajok “The O’ Clock Tales”. Mase tengah beratur kt machine pinjam buku tue (Self-check Station), terjumpa la dengan seorang makhluk Allah SWT nie. Dia di line satu lagi, beratur utk guna machine yg bersebelahan.

Gadis itu: Hye Nana! Ade kelas ke hari ni?
Nana : xde, saje nk pulangkan balik buku yg Nana pinjam dua hari lepas.
Gadis itu : xde kelas pon dtg center? Naik bas?
Nana : (smbil menuding jari ke arah jam kat dinding), skang mane ade bas. Menapak la.
Gadis itu : Rajin nya U menapak! Dari Haleemah kan? Jaoh ..
Nana : dah biasa.

[Bola matanya ligat merayau ke sana sini sebelum tertancap tepat ke atas cover buku yg Nana pegang, lalu bermulalah adegan yg meng’annoying’kan..]

Gadis itu : Enid Blyton?
Nana : Yep.
Gadis itu : You read these?? (smbil ketawa kecil yg menghina) These .. are for kids lah, Nana. Enid Blyton’s are all for kids. xkan U bace buku mcm ni? (smbil buat mimik muka memandang rendah. Sesungguhnya Nana menyampah melihat wajahnya itu~)
Nana : [Tangan Nana terus membuka buku kat tangan Nana, lantas jari-jemari Nana menyelak beberapa helaian “The O’Clock Tales”, lalu terjumpa satu perkataan..] Look here.
Gadis itu : What?
Nana : [ jari Nana menunjuk tepat ke perkataan “mangy”.] Ape maksud pkataan ni ek? [Dengan wajah ingin tahu yg sungguh natural *well, my drama lecturer kate Nana is the best actress in the drama competition last year!*]
Gadis itu : Well .. erm .. [wajahnya terus berubah]
Nana : xtaw ke?

Gadis itu terus membisu.

Nana : maksud die ‘berkudis’. Semua perkataan senang2 je dalam buku ni. These are for kids, kan?

Gadis itu sekadar mengangguk, wajahnya nampak jelas menahan malu. Nyata dia tersindir dengan ayat bodohnya sendiri.

Nana menutup buku tersebut, menoleh ke depan. Namun bibir Nana masih ingin berbicara.

“I love reading Enid Blyton’s, sejak dulu lagi. Buku for kids ke, adults ke, kalau Nana nk bace, Nana bace je. Semua buku yg Nana baca, help me to improve my English a lot, and Nana dapat Level 6 utk EPT dulu (Nana stress the word ‘six’).”

Nana puas.

Kawan2, d sini Nana ingin membuat sedikit penerangan tentang EPT. Sesape yg masuk UIA, korang kene amik EPT (English Placement Test), lebih kurang mcm MUET, ade writing, reading and speaking. Level 1 n 2 hanya utk para foreigner yg langsung x reti Bahasa Inggeris. Level paling rendah utk student Msia ialah Level 3. N “Gadis itu” yg dengan bangganya melontarkan kata2 “you read these??” tadi, berada di level 4. W’pon Nana dpt level 6, Nana xpernah pandang rendah sape2 di level 5, 4 n 3. (ade kawan2 Nana yg exempted teros dr EPT).

So, org laen x perlu nak berlagak pandai~ “u read these??” konon..

dikhuatiri kanda akan menerbitkan bicara yg terlalu nista pula jika komennya dlm BM. excuse me.

comment start

HOW THE HELL do you rate a book, man? don't you know that six-year-olds are called kids and there are six-year-olds who read LOTR the damn-bloody-pretty-insanely-hard-to-understand trilogy? so basically the trilogy ARE KIDS BOOKS, right? god help these people who dont know what kids books are.

what i learn in my LCYA course last semester is this: young adult or children literatures are literatures that young adults and children read because they want to, because they're willing to. so you cant say enid blyton's are for kids if there are kids who dont read them.

when you dont read, you cant judge. basically that's how it goes. lets say a teacher's teaching an adult learners class for english; they're all in their forties but the textbook used in the lessons are blyton's, how on earth can they be kids books?

you know, this topic itself is stupid. im not saying the entry is. but the way it is triggered. i mean, come on, university students are supposed to be open-minded. if you (some students, not necessarily her) can freely tell people you're having sex with your BF, how could it be possible that you're (some students, not necessarily her) close-minded on this issue? its READING, man, its not as BIG as sex! be open-la. (forgive the suffix -la, it came out of irritation).

what im really saying is this; you cant judge whether the book is written for kids or adults because everyone reads everything. if you're saying kids books are books with simple syntax and vocab (for example the BLYTON's), then you're worst than a kid coz you dont know what mangy is.

if you're saying books for adults have more complex syntax and bigger vocab, then LOTR is the trilogy for adults, but then again, there are six-year-olds who read it. so it ISN'T the materials for adults only.

so really, you cant judge. so dont judge. kids or adults, its all a big blurry scale. but who cares? reading is the closest thing to telepathy -Christopher Paolini. so you're still close to a mind-reader even if you read books with simple sentences. if that ain't cool, i dont know what is.

you can judge the language, vocab and plot. there's a scale for every component. but to say that a book is written for specific readers, its an aeon too early for you who doesnt even know what mangy is. god bless your pitiful mangy soul, mate. i have no more to ask for on your behalf.

what you did adindaku, was way too kind.

i would have said this if i was in your place:

Ah, do you know that light travels faster than sound? No wonder you look bright before you open your mouth!

Then i'll shake my head and add:

I learn than from buku teks Sains darjah 5. That's a book for kids, right?

You see, that is how you teach people like this because their teachers had obviously failed to knock some common sense into their heads. we are future educators. we teach differently. and if you were learn from me, adindaku, i teach with style. hehe.

jadi, itulah pendapat peribadi kanda ttg isu, entry dan org-org seperti ini. cubalah dinda bygkan, kalau kanda mengomen dlm BM, pastilah blog dinda akan terbakar oleh kenistaan kosa kata kanda nnt. hoho.

apa pula pendapat dinda ttg komen kanda? sila reply SYM (secepat yang mungkin). malu nk guna 'ASAP' sbb tgh tulis melayu. ngehehe.

2 k. nani :
gile bapak panjang komen kamu!
terperanjat beta melihatnya!
tp penuh dgn isi2 yg berguna.
ya betol, bila bca komen k.nani, baru la fina sedar yg fina terlalu baik hati dan bersopan~ (bapak perasan~)

kalau fina ckp apa yg k.nani ckp tu, mampus menangis anak dara org~
tp masalahnya dia mmg otak tertutup~ bila tertutup, automatik dia jadi bengong la.

pendapat fina ttg komen k. nani :
- nak pengsan baca~
- "HOW THE HELL do you rate a book, man?" <--- otak dia kat tapak kaki agaknya ..
- sungguh lah amat betol apa yg k.nani katakan itu, dan saya sangat lah bersetuju!!!
- dia mmg 'pitiful mangy rotten soul~'
- "they're all in their forties but the textbook used in the lessons are blyton's, how on earth can they be kids books?"
- there are six-year-olds who read LOTR? nampaknya saya sendiri sudah ketinggalan jauh d belakang~~ haih ..

2 emcee :
novel enid blyton tulisan nya besar2, and ade gmbar. sila lah baca ^^!

x, EPT sbenanye lg senang dr MUET ^^.

wallawey.

hebat sey comment kak nani! (tepuk!!!!) saya terpaksa membuka online cambridge dictionary krn ada bbrapa perkataan yg sy xpernah dgr (malu nk ngaku tp sy mmg jahil. haha).

anyways, betul kata kak nani. mana boleh judge sebuah buku mengikut peringkat usia.

If she were to judge novel based on the readers age, what about manga that we (kak nani, nana-chan, me) read? Ini secara x langsung menyinggung pembaca manga. dah le kutuk novel, scra x lngsung kutuk manga. aish. dabel dosa nih.

haha
